Prior to start of mould laminating, the following have to turned:
1. Mould release procedure have been carried out on the model. Use frecoat system or mirrorglaze system (whichable application, see below).
2. Types of mould laminating system to be used, either Epoxy system or Polyester system. If would also influence the types of gelcoat to be used.
3. When a flange board is introduced for reversed flange laminating, the gap between the board and model surface where the board is mounted have to be <>
4. Standard Mould Laminate (Epoxy)
The following laminate schedule to be used:
a. Gelcoat T30 ()
b. RE 200 x 1 layer
c. RE 300 x 2 layers
d. Peel ply x 1 layer
e. QE 1006 x 7 layers
f. Peel ply x 1 layer
5. Curing Instruction (Epoxy)
8 hours @ 45 °C.
Post curing requirement shall be carried out as specified by Design Office.
6. After cured, remove outer peel ply and prepare set up for mould frame fabrication (if applicable). Depending to the size of the mould, either plywood or steel frame can be considered. In most case, for large moulds, mould frame drawing will be prepared and fabricated accordingly.
7. After cured, the mould is then demould and mould release residue clean-up. Note: Mould Release Sequence using SOP First Time.
8. Standard Mould Laminate (Polyester)
The following laminate schedule to be used:
a. Tooling gelcoat
b. CSM 225 x 1 layer
c. CSM 450 x 1 layer
d. CSM 300 x 4 layers
e. CSM 300 x 4 layers
f. QE 1006 x 2 layers
All the above layer to be applied on overall surface of model to be laminates at designated interval.
9. Curing Instruction (Polyester)
Room temperature curing.
10. After cured, remove outer peel ply and prepare set up for mould frame fabrication (if applicable). Depending to the size of the mould, either plywood or steel frame can be considered. In most case, for large moulds, mould frame drawing will be prepared and fabricated accordingly.
The structure is then laminated onto the mould with QE 1006 x 2 layers and left to cure
11. After cured, the mould is then demould and mould release residue clean-up. Note: Mould Release Sequence using SOP First Time.
